Following the principles of the Kodály (pronounced "code-eye")
method of music education founded
by Zoltan Kodály in
Hungary, this program emphasizes the development
of your child's ability to
read, write, hear and think
musically through singing. A diverse repertoire of
songs, rounds, singing games and dances,
movement and a wide variety of musical activities
are the basis from which
your child will develop
his/her musicianship in a weekly one-hour program.
Regular rhythmic and melodic exercises will strengthen
your child's ability to read and
write music. In keeping with
the Kodály philosophy, students
will become familiar with
folk traditional, classical and world
music through
age-appropriate and engaging experiences. An enjoyment of singing is essential
in this program.
